NAHBS Bike Conversions to Beltdrive
At Veer, we’re splitting belts and packing bags for our first year exhibiting at NAHBS, North American Handmade Bicycle Show! There are so many visionary builders that have been working hard the past year creating stunning bikes to showcase. We’ve also been hard at work and will be showcasing our Split Belt™Pro drivetrain for the first time. We’ve partnered with 3 talented builders to show off our beltdrive!
Split Belt™ Pro will be spinning on a bike from a builder who won in different NAHBS categories in 2014 and 2015. Jeremy Sycip has been cranking out custom bikes since 1992 and now resides in Sonoma with his at-home shop, building SyCip Designs Bikes. The bike that will be displayed is a snazzy green Java Town. Paired on the bike will be an Alfine 11 and our Split Belt Pro kit with 64T front belt ring and 30T rear cog. Grab your java cup to check out more of Jeremy’s builds, you can find him at booth #820B.
Wood you like to know the next bike displaying our splittable belt drivetrain? You wood wouldn’t you ;) Bamboo Bikes Hawaii is crafting and creating a custom commuter bicycle to showcase our belt drive this year. Barrett Werk has been woodworking for over 15 years and brings his passion for sustainability and bikes into the mix. He will be bringing his craft and unique bikes to NAHBS this year. Check out his fleet in booth #313.
The third bike that will be displaying our Split Belt Pro is a “do everything” titanium rig dubbed the SuperCommuter. Hailing from Portland, Oregon our friends over at TiCycles hooked us up with this looker. Hit them up for all of your custom, bespoke titanium needs. We will also be providing their crank spider adapters on our website for all you folks who want to be running our belt drive but can’t wait for the rest of our sprocket options to come out. Check out the rest of their stellar fleet at booth #830.
These bikes are not only going to be rocking some of the first Split Belt Pro conversion kits on the market, but also some rather snazzy bells and whistles. Quite literally actually. Our Lead Product Engineer has been doing design work for Spurcycle on the side and we’ll be ringing the bell on one of our bikes.
Okay, now how are we going to bring all of our stuff to NAHBS? It only makes sense to put our brews, cookies, and hot cheetos in some upcoming bike bags! I first stumbled upon Bags by Bird when drooling over Tumbleweed bikes. Jay Ritchey is a film artist and bike explorer who realized the biking world was missing his ideal bag, the perfect mix of classic and modern. He recently launched his company Bags by Bird, or BXB for short. These bags are not only durable and variable, but oh so stylish. Jay has been kind enough to spend some extra hours he probably doesn’t have to sew up some bags for our booth. I will have no shortage of words at NAHBS to talk about these bags, so come check them out.
You can stay tuned for updates and Follow Us On Instagram for photos of the process. We hope you can make it to NAHBS to come say hi and hang out with us at booth #111!
