Vanmoof Belt Drive Conversion Upgrade

Product Description

Experience your VanMoof as it should have been: belt driven. Upgrade your chain drive for zero maintenance and incredible durability. Silent and clean operation, improved performance, and 900g lighter than when you bought it. We offer a 2.13 gear ratio which is slightly larger than the stock gear ratio to allow you to reach higher speeds.

This system was specially designed and tested for VanMoof riders only, and utilizes the Patent Pending Split Belt system to eliminate the need for a split frame to mount the belt. In fact, no modifications to your bicycle are needed at all, besides removing the old chain-based components and adding the Carbon Fiber belt system in its place.

Feel the future of urban cycling.

Note: S3/X3 frames received in 2020 have either a 3-spline or 9-spline rear cog. Please check your rear cog before purchasing.

Great upgrade, but differences in gearing mean it is harder to pedal.

After 18 months, I am enjoying the belt drive which delivers on the promises made: It is clean, quiet, looks great and was quite easy to fit. It shows no signs of wear. However it has made it harder to pedal, due to a difference in gearing compared to the stock bike. To me, it feels like starting off in 2nd gear. I live in a hilly area, so this is an issue.

My workaround is to set the VanMoof S3 shift points to higher numbers so it almost never gets into 4th gear. But that isn’t great as I’m still limited by the very tall first gear. (My change up speeds are: 1–2: 12 mph; 2-3: 18 mph; 3-4: 24 mph, and change down is 8, 14 and 18 mph). I may also try a longer crank, though this could strike the ground when cornering.

I reached out to Veer support regarding this in January 2023, and asked whether they might offer either smaller belt ring or a larger rear sprocket. Something that will mean I needn’t put in quite so much effort to get the bike moving, or can get it up some of the steep hills around here. The response is "At the moment we don't have either of those but we do plan on making a larger rear cog for that hub in the future. I don't have a timeline on that at the moment since we have a few other large projects we are working on first. Likely won't be available until late this year [2023]."

So there you have it. It is brilliant, but flawed. Once there is a bigger cog or smaller beltring it will be perfect for me.

    Super Kit fürs Electrified S2

Wirklich gradioses conversion Kit... So sollten die Vanmoof Räder eigentlich direkt produziert werden! Die Kosten sind natürlich nicht ohne aber ich muss sagen es lohnt sich echt! Der Umbau ist denke ich für jeden machbar.

Vanmoof S2 upgraded to Belt drive !

One of the major gripes I had with a Vanmoof is that they didn't bother to put a belt drive on a premium commuter bike. I was considering to upgrade to a different bike altogether when I stumbled across Veer's belt upgrade for Vanmoof.

I decided to give it a try even though the price is on the higher side. I used a bike mechanic to get this done, since I have been using his services for long and he comes home. He watched the video and "upgraded" me over to the belt drive in about 1.5 hours.

The bike looks really good and rides silent - the best part is no more grease or oil to deal with.

This is a highly recommended upgrade if your budget permits it. Thanks to Veer in building a well engineered product.

Excellent product, fast shipping and superb customer service!

I had a couple of minor hiccups with my VanMoof S3 upgrade, mistakenly requesting the wrong rear cog (do check your bike carefully before ordering!) and an over-enthusiastic family member then riveted the belt closed away from the bike. In response, Veer’s technical support was excellent, with clear email communication and quick shipping of replacement parts.

Armed with the correct components, installation on the bike was very straightforward (do watch the video at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn9mwfzKLdA&ab_channel=Veer ) and the post-installation ride is remarkably smooth. I’m a very satisfied customer.
